Workforce Development
IMPACT Community Action helps men and women build critical skills to enter the workforce, update and retrain for 21st century careers,  provide job coaching, paid training and employment assistance to cope with difficult career transitions.

Employment Plus-Presented a nationally recognized work-readiness curriculum that included computer training, resume preparation as well as interview and job searching techniques. With funding from the 2009 ARRA, The Employment Plus Program provided employers with a 50% employer work subsidy for the first 90 days as an incentive to hire the newly trained candidates. Employment Plus participants also received soft skills training, wardrobe counseling, clothing vouchers, transportation assistance and job coaching to be successful in their new positions.

Re-Entry Pilot -Through an intensive pre-release program, IMPACT worked with ex-offenders that were within ninety (90) days of release. Designed to provide a seamless transition and  one-on-one support, the program leveraged community resources  and referrals to address  additional critical needs such as housing, transportation and healthcare.  Click here for more info.

Computer Literacy -With support from the City of Columbus, IMPACT provided free computer training for individuals to become competitive within today's employment and educational arenas. This five-day accelerated course covers Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel 2007 and more. Seniors 55 years and older can enroll in a specialized Platinum Plus course.

 Mobile Medical Unit - In partnership with The Breathing Association, this medical bus-turned-roving doctor's office connects affordable health care services to local communities; bringing affordable health care services closer to their home.  In addition to screening for breathing related conditions, individuals and families obtained prescription assistance, physicals and lung x-rays.

Earned Income Tax Credit Program
The Earned Income Tax Credit Program (EITC) provides free tax preparation to working low-income individuals and families by trained and certified volunteers through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA).
